THE BEACH RESIDENCE PROJECT WAS FINISHED IN 2018 – A GUT RENOVATION OF AN EXISTING BUNGALOW ORIGINALLY BUILT IN 1970.
MANHATTAN BEACH IS AN UPSCALE LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY SITUATED BY THE VAST SANDY BEACHLINE. THE HOUSE IS DESIGNED FOR A SMALL FAMILY WITH 3 BEDROOMS, 3 BATHROOMS, LIVING ROOM, KITCHEN AND AN OUTDOOR LIVING AREA.
OWNERS WANTED A HOME THAT IS A CONSTANT REMINDER OF THE BEACH AND INSPIRES CONNECTION TO THE NATURE, HOME THAT IS BUILT USING NATURAL MATERIALS AND ENCOURAGES RELAXATION. YET, THE OWNERS DIDN'T WANT IT TO VEER INTO STEREOTYPICAL BEECH BUNGALOW AND NEEDED A SPACE THAT IS MODERN, FUNCTIONAL AND REFLECTS PERSONALITY OF EACH FAMILY MEMBER.

DESIGNER USED NATURAL FLATTENED BEECH PEBBLES FLOORING FOR THE OUTDOOR-INDOOR LIVING ROOM, ADDED SAND-COLOR UNFILLED TRAVERTINE AT THE OUTDOOR LIVING SPACE AND ALSO AS FEATURE-WALL IN THE PRIMARY BATHROOM.

ALL FLOOR AND BUILT-IN CABINETRY IN BEDROOMS, KITCHEN AND TRANSITIONAL SPACES ARE FINISHED IN NATURAL WHITE OAK IN CLEAR MATTE FINISH – TO FARTHER BRING WARMTH AND NATURAL FEEL TO THE ENVIRONMENT.

THE FAÇADE IS THE FIRST INTRODUCTION TO THE ARTISTIC REPRESENTATION OF THE MODERN BEACH HOME. THE LOWER-LEVEL FACADE WALL IS FINISHED WITH THE BLACK STANDING BEACH PEBBLES, AND THE UPPER LEVEL IS WHITE PLASTER WITH SCULPTURAL PERFORATED METAL BALCONY RAILING: THE CORAL LEAF WAS AN INSPIRATION FOR A PERFORATED PATTERN.
